Misplaced charge


 
Pat Brown of Catholic Women’s Ordination describes those quondam Anglican clergy who have been ordained into the Catholic priesthood as “misogynist priests” (Letters, 16 August).What basis does she have for making such a statement? Can she name even one convert who has made misogynistic statements? Or does she assume that anyone who disagrees with her on the subject of the ordination of women must be a misogynist? Does she suppose that female opponents of the ordination of women are also misogynistic? I am a (recent) convert to the Church from Anglicanism; I am not, I trust, even remotely misogynistic. Disagreement with the ordination of women was one of the reasons for my conversion but it was neither the only reason nor even (I hope) the most important one. I must add
