In your account of a lecture by the Bishop of East Anglia (News from Britain and Ireland, 12 July), you report him as saying that when Vatican II's Constitution on the Liturgy urged “active participation in worship”, “This did not mean everyone had to be involved in playing a role … but that they should be prayerfully attentive”. Perhaps the bishop should read the Constitution again.
