I was deeply moved to read the article (“Francis’ new order”, 21 June) by Ladislas Orsy SJ, being aware of his great age. He was born on 30 July 1921, in Hungary. Fr Ladislas’ article exudes the same spirit of excitement and hope that he conveyed to three of us seminarians from Oscott College on the road from Looe to Polperro in Cornwall in the summer before our ordination as priests. We had gone to Sclerder Abbey to thank the Franciscan sisters there for the prayers they had been saying for us. We were classmates, Michael Cole, Terry (Terence) Fleming and me; all for the Plymouth Diocese.The sisters, after giving us a splendid tea, told us that their chaplain was on holiday, but they had a priest supplying for him.
