Unaccountable parish priest


 
To whom are our Bishops accountable? Do they have any obligation to carry out the recommendations of the Second Vatican Council? When our current parish priest arrived 10 years ago it was to a thriving, outward-looking parish. He closed down our parish council, liturgy group, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, stopped the Confirmandi Faith Friends (did it himself) and many other social events. The bishops were informed of this and seemed unwilling to help. A few Sundays ago, I read in the  newsletter that our tabernacle is being moved back to the sanctuary. This had been moved 25 years ago to a side altar when we reordered our church following weeks of catechesis of the parishioners. There has been no consultation about this with the parish.
