Wedding fees – a useful example


 
Fr Chris Jackson (Letters, 22 March) writes that in the Catholic Church couples are not required to pay a statutory fee for weddings. This is not the case in at least one parish in Australia where the fees for weddings, funerals and baptisms are listed in the parish bulletin, as well as the price for a Mass. Many years ago I was inspired by a civil cele­brant in our town who simply asked couples to make a donation to the charity of their choice – perhaps the Catholic Church could foll
