Liturgy – get engaged


 
I read with interest Joanna Moorhead’s ­column (22 March) about encouraging the interest of young people in going to Mass. Perhaps her parish isn’t doing too badly if it has a 9.30 a.m. Mass “full of screaming kids” and an 11 a.m. Mass with “bells and smells and the singing is in Latin”. It seems to be ­catering for a wide variety of liturgical tastes. Perhaps if the young people she mentions went along to the priest and the parish liturgy group and offered to serve, read, sing and play music, ­compose bidding prayers and act as welcomers, they would receive a very encouraging hearing.
