Pentecostalism – spur to unity


 
I agree with Kingsley Fulbrook (Letters, 8 February) that one reason for the charismatic renewal’s failure so far to take off in Britain is the risk-averse attitude of most Catholic clergy. Because of their dominant role, they have immense power to inhibit and block.The Catholic charismatic renewal, which started in 1967, originated from the Pentecostal movement that exploded into existence in 1906 and has been expanding ever since. The Pentecostal and charismatic movements now comprise over 25 per cent of all Christians, including some 120 million Catholics.
