Pope apologises, but will Church change?


 

Pope Francis has made a written apology to Chilean bishops for his response to accusations of sexual abuse in the Church there. It is remarkable that the head of the Catholic Church has offered such a personal apology while acknowledging the pain of those who have suffered abuse.

I think the Pope’s apology is historic and commendable. This is an example of deeply human authentic leadership for our Church – not to be afraid to confess aloud one’s failings and errors
