Undoubtedly, Nelson Mandela (“Madiba, our ancestor”, 14 December) has left behind a great challenge lying squarely on the shoulders of the young generation of today and tomorrow; not only of this continent of Africa, but of the whole world at large. Such challenge not only calls us to emulate the values that he so much embodied and promoted, but to go a mile ahead of him. By following Madiba’s footsteps, the great evils of our time such as terrorism, tribalism, ethnicity, corruption, human trafficking, slavery, racism, the widening gulf between the rich and the poor, corruption, illiteracy and many more will be conquered. I strongly believe that the young generation in Africa and elsewhere in the world have the temerity to take up this challenge, which Madiba has put on
