Gay appeal?

The Notebook article (The Tablet, 22 March) entitled “Thing of Beauty” is, at best, a generalisation on the part of an individual that should not be taken as the general thought of gay male Catholics.

I know few if any gay Catholics who would agree with Laurence England that “homosexuals suffer because we often find ourselves looking for a man for whom our heart yearns – perhaps a man of great beauty. In the Latin Mass we are uniquely taught that we have found Him and He has found and seeks us.”

Your readers need to know that neither statement definitively represents the thoughts and beliefs of anyone other than Mr England and a very few like him.
