Support for women from Irish Catholic priests

We in the Catholic Women’s Ordination movement have been hugely encouraged by the brave statement of support from twelve Irish Catholic priests.

We are also grateful to the Tablet for reporting it “Priests call for conversation about women’s ordination” (7 November)

Women’s Ordination Worldwide has just held a very successful international conference in Philadelphia, Gender, Gospel, and Global Justice, 18 – 20 September, in which over five hundred delegates and speakers from all over the world participated.

Speakers included Tina Beattie, Christina Rees from the UK and many other distinguished speakers including one of the priests who signed the statement.

Our conference was not mentioned by The Tablet at all.

There were many articles about it in the National Catholic Reporter, LA Times, New York Times, and in the UK, The Guardian and the Church Times.

There must be a reason why The Tablet considers the statement is more newsworthy than the WOW conference. Please could you share it?
