Disappointed with the laity response to Synod

I have to write to express my disappointment at the response by the laity in England and Wales to the survey on 'marriage and family life', which will be discussed in depth at the Synod in Rome over the next three weeks.

To see that six dioceses did not submit their findings because of the poor response by their parishioners, is most worrying.

Surely, all responses should of been collated and sent off, so that their opinions could of been heard.

As a matter of interest, my diocese of Arundel and Brighton is one of the aforementioned above.

I fear that the Synod will not make any lasting statements or recommendations that will inspire the laity into action, and that it will dash the great optimism that was raised at the beginning of the process by all the priests of England and Wales.
