Luther and the Muslims

Madam, It seems clear that the first batch of 100,000 refugees is only the thin end of the wedge.

We hope that the Mosque and the Church can co-exist but the history of the former under the latter makes it unlikely.

It is so different from The Church in the Shadow of the Mosque, the title of Sydney Griffith's book. However, Martin Luther in his latter years wrote a treatise on how Christians should live under Muslim rule.

This was the prognosis of his time.

The lifting of the siege of Vienna in 1683 was unexpected in the previous century. (See RW Southern, Western Views of Islam in the Middle Ages.)

Perhaps the Lord intended his advice to be for some six centuries ahead. In any case, we all need go be reading Martin's words.
