Church not known in refugees' countries

Sir

One of the few facts that stand out in the current crisis is that the great majority of what we call ‘migrants’ or ‘refugees’ or ‘seekers of asylum’ converging on Europe come from the few countries in the world where the Church is hardly known, or not at all, Syria excepted; the other truth being that the peace and dignity they seem to seek has in Europe always been associated with Christ.

I would therefore like to express my support and gratitude to the courageous few who are active in the most frontline of frontline tasks, the most urgent of urgent duties over and above what is called 'humanitarian' assistance, the one that is unavoidable for laying the foundations of future peace, namely acquainting these newcomers with the Good News the Church embodies.

If practical help or donations can be given to anyone thus involved I would love to hear about it.

Sincerely

Peter Rombald, Marlborough, Wiltshire
