Openness to vocations

Oh dear, that same old chestnut again: God is not calling fewer people to priesthood, but fewer people are responding (Bishop Mark O’Toole, News from Britain and Ireland, 25 April). It’s more than time for our hierarchies, not only in Britain and Ireland, to wake up, and realise that the problem is not in lack of response to God’s call, but in their own rejection of that response from all who are not male and celibate.
