Bishop is wrong to screen charities for faith values

I could not disagree more with Bishop Egan (Egan: clergy should screen NGOs for faith values, The Tablet, 18 March) about which charities should be supported by the Church as many would suffer if such restrictions were introduced. A logical conclusion is that people should not vote in elections unless a candidate fully endorsed Catholic teaching - most unlikely. Many Catholics simply do not share his views on contraception and gay rights. They attend Mass and and receive the sacraments along with divorced friends in new relationships. Hopefully the upcoming synod will listen to the people of God.
