Rebranding surplus

The news this week applauded that one of our leading supermarkets is now turning food "waste" into energy which will power one of their large stores. I can see nothing to celebrate in the fact that our twenty-first century technology can turn food "waste" (their term not mine) into power but not into a source of nutrition for hungry mouths both here and overseas. Having witnessed hunger first hand in developing countries I felt more inclined to weep.
