Swiss diocese bars SSPX 6 February 2013
The bishop in whose diocese the schismatic Society of St Pius X (SSPX) has their headquarters has forbidden its priests from using Catholic churches and chapels in his diocese for priestly services, "in particular for the dispensation of the sacraments".
In a decree regulating who may use Catholic churches and chapels in his diocese, Bishop Charles Morerod of Lausanne, Fribourg and Geneva, permitted members of other Christian denominations to use diocesan churches but stated that non-Christians and the SSPX may not.
Bishop Morerod, a member of the CDF delegation responsible for talks with the SSPX in the Vatican, noted that because the group does not have a canonical status in the Church, its priests cannot exercise legitimate ministries in the Church.
