Irish abortion plans resisted3 January 2013
Ireland's nuncio has warned against moves by the country's Government to legislate for abortion.
In a homily at a Mass for the World Day of Peace attended by the President Michael Higgins and government representatives, Archbishop Charles Brown said that such moves were "the pursuit of a false peace".
The archbishop called on people of faith or no faith "to work vigorously and courageously to protect human life from conception to natural death".
The Government is considering proposals to legislate for abortion in certain circumstances. This followed a European Court ruling that urged a revision to the country's laws.
