Latest NewsVatican gives SSPX more time31 October 2012The Vatican has announced that it is giving the Society of St Pius X (SSPX) more time to decide whether it will accept its conditions for readmission to full ecclesial communion with Rome. In a declaration published on Saturday, the Pontifical Commission "Ecclesia Dei" forcefully reiterated Pope Benedict XVI's firm intention to rehabilitate the group, which contested several key doctrinal developments from the Second Vatican Council. The commission, which is part of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, said it was "understandable" that after 30 years of separation the group would need more time to respond to the doctrinal agreement the Pope offered it in.
