Bishops row over remarried divorcees25 October 2012
The German bishops vowed to push ahead with plans to seek pastoral solutions for remarried divorcees against the wishes of Rome.
The president of the German bishops' conference, Archbishop Robert Zollitsch, made his comments a week after the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller, chided them for attempting to do so.
Archbishop Zollitsch, speaking to journalists at the Synod of Bishops on the New Evangelisation, said bishops from Africa and Latin America at the synod had shown that the problem of remarried divorcees was not a "typically central European problem".
