Scicluna rues Church’s PR ‘disasters’16 October 2012
The Church needs to adopt a humbler, more accessible tone and sometimes its PR is a "total disaster", Mgr Charles Scicluna, an auxiliary bishop-elect in Malta, has said.
Bishop-elect Scicluna was speaking to Malta's Sunday Times on his return to the island after 10 years in Rome spearheading efforts to improve the Vatican's responses to allegations of abuse by priests.
He said: "We have a product which is extraordinary and we have to get our act together to bring it to as many people as possible. The way we do things at times is a total disaster and we have to be humble and say, ‘we need to do better'. We need to start using language that people understand."
