Pope’s Jesus book out for Christmas28 September 2012
The Vatican has announced that it expects Pope Benedict XVI's new book on the birth of Jesus to be ready for purchase in time for Christmas. It will be the third and final part of his three-part series on Jesus of Nazareth.
The new volume, which the 85-year-old Pope completed this past summer, deals with the infancy narratives. The first book in the trilogy was issued in 2007 and focused on Jesus' life from his baptism to his transfiguration. The second book appeared last year and looked at his Passion, death and Resurrection.
A statement from the Holy See press office on 21 September said the Vatican publishing house, Libreria Editrice Vaticana (LEV), would jointly issue the Italian version of the new book with Rizzoli publishers. It said negotiations were still under way with publishers in the other major languages, including English.
