Westminster fundraising seeks £35m3 September 2012
A £35 million fundraising scheme will be rolled out across the Archdiocese of Westminster, it has been announced.
The archdiocese hopes the initiative, Growing in Faith, which was successfully piloted in eight parishes earlier this year, will help to boost the charitable work of the diocese as well as finance a huge rise in pension payments as 44 per cent of its priests enter retirement over the next 20 years.
During the pilot scheme, parishes were asked to double their annual income in just three months with the support of the US-based fundraising firm, Community Counselling Service, which has run similar successful campaigns in other dioceses in England and Scotland. All the parishes are believed to have met their targets, and some even exceeded them.
