Nigerian extremists vow to continue 12 June 2012
The Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram vowed to continue attacking churches and state buildings until Nigeria became an Islamic state, after carrying out fatal attacks on two church services in northern Nigeria on Sunday.
A member of Boko Haram drove a car into Christ Chosen Church, in the city of Jos, and detonated a suicide bomb that demolished the church, wounding over 40 parishioners. In another attack, three members of Boko Haram opened fire on a church in the town of Biu, killing at least one Christian and wounding three others. In retaliatory attacks, Christian youth killed two people in Jos.
Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Jos said: "We are dealing with a group of criminals ... I do not think that this is the vision of the majority of Muslims in Nigeria."
