Baroness (Karren) Brady of Knightsbridge, speaking on BBC1’s Fern Britton Meets…, spoke about her days as a boarder at The Faithful Companions of Jesus school near Ware in Hertfordshire. Brady, who assists Lord (Alan) Sugar on BBC1’s The Apprentice, told how, when she and a group of school friends were very late returning from town, she told nuns she had twisted her ankle and it had taken them ages to help her get back. The nuns insisted she went to hospital, where she was X-rayed. To her amazement, she was told the X-ray showed she had a broken ankle and she returned to school in a wheelchair. The hospital must have mixed up her X-ray with that of another patient who really had broken their ankle, Brady believes. “God works in mysterious ways,” she said.
