O’Brien could lose honorary degree


THE FORMER Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh, Cardinal Keith O’Brien could be stripped of an honorary degree from the University of St Andrews following allegations of sexual misconduct, writes Brian Morton.

The Senate business committee was due to meet on Thursday to discuss revoking Cardinal O’Brien’s doctorate in divinity, awarded in 2004. If passed, it will be the first time that this has happened at a Scottish university.
