Voluntary schools face ‘huge burden’


CATHOLIC VOLUNTARY secondary schools in Ireland are at a serious disadvantage because they receive less support than state counterparts, a report has revealed, writes Sarah Mac Donald.

Launching the report, “Catholic education at second level in the Republic of Ireland”, Fr Michael Drumm, chairman of the Catholic Schools Partnership (CSP), said the pressure to fund-raise placed a “huge burden” on school management.

The CSP has called for a review of the curricular and financial realities facing voluntary schools.
