Confident pupils from a school whose strong Catholic ethos is ensured
The school: St Joseph’s is a small mixed primary on Queen’s Road, to the west of Aberdeen city centre, with about 275 pupils in the school and a further 40 in the nursery. It is a popular and successful school, last inspected by Education Scotland in 2011. The school was established by the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1896, under the ethos that the best kind of education takes place through relationships and trust.
Change of ownership: St Joseph’s is managed by Aberdeen City Council, which last month purchased the school from the Society of the Sacred Heart at a cost of £12.75 million. Previously the council had paid £750,000 per year for the lease and maintenance of St Joseph’s.
