Last month I suggested a number of wines from Marks & Spencer that were probably quite difficult to trace, available only in their largest of stores. This month I will try to redress that by suggesting some that I found in a smaller, local M&S. I also want to respond to a request from a reader to point to some of its Fairtrade wines.First of all, the Fairtrade wines that I was able to get easily were two South African red wines, one a cabernet sauvignon (Zebra View) and the other a shiraz-pinotage mix (Cape Quarter). The cabernet is rich (the label claims blackberry, cherry and dark chocolate – fair enough) and solid, will probably not improve in the bottle, but softened after being opened for a while, and is good value at its Fairtrade price of £7.
