The anti-abuse campaigner and Vatican panellist tells Elena Curti how he hopes to make the world a safer place for children The first thing Peter Saunders hands me, as we sit down to talk in his cubbyhole of an office in south London, is an A4 folder. On the first page is a certificate in Latin, signed by the Holy See’s Secretary of State, stating that “Petrum Saunders” has been appointed a member of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Adults for three years. Inside, there is a letter from Cardinal Vincent Nichols offering his congratulations and another from Britain’s Ambassador to the Holy See, Nigel Baker. On the wall is a photograph of Saunders with the Pope – both of them smiling broadly. Saunders shows me the rosary Fr
