Together yet apart

As the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity draws to a close, the Archbishop of Birmingham suggests that the provisions which allow Christians not in communion with the Catholic Church to receive the sacraments deserve to be used more effectively On meeting Pope Francis in Rome last year, the Archbishop of Canterbury described their encounter as “a real engagement of love”. The Pope asked Justin Welby not to forget what he called “the three Ps”: prayer, poverty and peace. The first “P”, prayer for unity, is part of the DNA of the Church. It is not an option.
