Liverpool’s new archbishop tells Christopher Lamb about his plans for the diocese, his views about the synod and his run-ins with Rome
As I arrive to interview the Archbishop of Liverpool on a cold morning in December, he is outside his house with a can of WD-40 lubricant trying to repair the front gate. It is a task for which he is well equipped, given that before entering religious life with the Dominicans, Archbishop Malcolm McMahon studied engineering at university and then worked on the buses for London Transport.
