Schools are at the heart of faith outreach work that is taking the ancient town of Hartlepool by storm, as organisers Jeremy Cain and Anne Marie Lavelle explain
A sense of anticipation is building among Catholic schoolchildren in Hartlepool as they have seen a great 7ft cross carried between the town's seven parishes. The cross heralds the arrival of Hexham and Newcastle’s youth ministry team (YMT) next month to lead a long-planned mission. The project will be based at the town’s Catholic comprehensive, English Martyrs, which has close to 1,700 pupils, the vast majority of them baptised Catholics. The fortnight-long mission has been designed to reinvigorate the faith of its 11- to 18-year-old students.The youth workers’ aim is to draw young people throughout Hartlepool
