Less noise, more hope

The search for peace between Israel and Palestine is beset by advocates on both sides unable to hear alternative voices Nowhere is the subject of peace and understanding, or more realistically, violence and misunderstanding, more evident than in discussions about the conflict in Gaza or relations between Israelis and Palestinians. Speakers and discussants tend to be advocates of one side or another, pursuing a strictly partisan agenda. Why is it so rare to find people and organisations – Jewish, Christian or Muslim – that are both pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli? Why do blinkered views prevail?For Jews and Muslims, the reasons are more obvious: for Jews, the centrality of the land of the Bible, as well as the survival of more than a third of world Jewry, is at stake.
