One of England’s most high-profile Catholic colleges, the Jesuit-run Heythrop, is considering joining forces with the new university of St Mary’s, Twickenham. It would be a move brought about by the harsh reality of today’s economic climate Saturday 21 June was a heady day for Heythrop College. Its 400th anniversary celebrations had begun a few days earlier with a substantial academic conference, featuring its staff and Jesuits from around the world, and marking its long trad­ition of learning provided by the Society of Jesus that started in Louvain and is now based in Kensington, central London.
