Lent Meditation: Our journey ends in joy

There is a phrase from the Mass readings for Easter Day that sums up the accomplishment of our Lenten journey: “You have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” The “you” that has died is the illusion of the self, the diabolical lie that “you will be like God, knowing good and evil”.The unsustainable empire of the self imposed on the outward world has fallen and in its place is a kingdom received as a gift: the Kingdom within, which knows no borders, since God has spoken all that is through his Word, and which can never disintegrate, since it shares in the eternal oneness of God.
