From the opening prayer led by children from Nomadelfia – the small community in Grosseto, Tuscany, which, like the earliest Christians, follows the rule that “everything they own is held in common” (Acts 4:32) – it was obvious that “Saving Our Common Home” was to be no ordinary Vatican conference. The 400 or so participants at the gathering, held last weekend to mark the third anniversary of the publication of Laudato Si’, were immediately conscious that the destiny of these children was in our hands, and that radical solutions are required to protect their future.
