The Prosecco Bubble shows no signs of bursting. It’s predicted that by 2020 yearly sales of Prosecco will exceed 412 million bottles, with one in four of them drunk in the UK.
Prosecco’s meteoric rise has brought fame and fortune to the Valdobbiadene region of the Veneto, where it’s produced. Land sales for vineyard planting have enriched many an Italian smallholder and the Prosecco boom is thought to have been the single most important factor in rescuing the local economy from the after-effects of the 2008 financial crisis.
