When it comes to the world of work, is Catholic Social Teaching now the only show in town?
 

Adam and Eve have a lot to answer for. Not only did their original sin see them excluded from the Garden of Eden, but henceforth they had to work for a living.

“Cursed is the ground because of you,” said an angry God, “through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life … By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, from which you were taken” – thereby giving scriptural authority to the idea of work as a divinely sanctioned punishment for sin.
