When I walked this way two weeks ago, the beck was frozen over, and the silence of its icebound flow had formed a strange hush. This morning, it was in spate. The rushing, roaring, foaming cascade rampaged under the bridge, and seethed away between tree-lined banks. The power of the water was staggering.
