Flurries of comments and leaks from Rome and China suggest that Pope Francis hopes he may be close to achieving one of his greatest dreams, to heal the 66-year rift between the Holy See, the smallest state in the world, and China, the most populous, with almost 1.4 billion people. The Pope might remember the old adage: be careful what you wish for.
