Church seeks true voice of the family


 
There is a ghost hovering at the Synod on the Family, that haunts its deliberations over marriage, divorce, remarriage, women and gays. That ghost is the Anglican Communion, riven by rows that threaten its unity. Could the Catholic Church go the same way, its African hierarchs at loggerheads with those in the West, who are under pressure from the laity to embrace those who are gay, or in second marriages or cohabiting?
