Can a honey diet cure cancer? Was Hitler an MI6 plant? As the lady said, ‘No, no, no’


 
The headline in The Sun summed it up: “Jesus wed hooker and had two kids.” If the language in the headline was a little rebarbative, the reporter adopted a more decorous tone in the relative amplitude of a 130-word report: “A lost gospel has been translated to reveal Jesus married prostitute Mary Magdalene and they had two children. The secret document, dating back 1,450 years, is even thought to reveal the name of Christ’s offspring. The mystery text was left gathering dust in London’s British Library for 150 years.”That’s it, really. The claim is, needless to say, untrue, but it interested me for two reasons.
