They eventually found a rare, open-minded, inclusive parish


 
This is the time when we especially remember the dead and discover whether they are still within us. It is a test of the kind of relationship we had with them under this sky. I was thinking of Nicole from our community who died recently. At her memorial service her son, Laurent, in the softest voice ever used in a church, spoke about his mother. I learned something new about her, which shows how relationships grow even under different skies. When I met her and her husband, also called Laurent, they were active members of the Houston meditation community. They were very French in accent, cuisine and views.
