THE TROUBLE with the BBC’s new radio series Living with the Gods, Neil MacGregor’s reflections on the “role and expression of shared beliefs around the world”, is the title. It’s an exploration of various themes to do with religion across cultures, centred on objects from the British Museum that are the subject of a new exhibition there. Trouble is, Christians, and indeed Jews and Muslims, must decline to have God included among “the gods”.
