I would have entitled the book, Paul: A Celebration. It is not a biography in the sense of a scholarly investigation into the facts of Paul’s life – not because any student of the biblical world could doubt Tom Wright’s credentials as a scholar, but because only minimal interest is shown in the course of Paul’s life and apostolate. There are no justificatory footnotes, only scriptural references. Many of the normal questions are simply passed over, particularly the reliability of the Acts of the Apostles as a historical source.
