One to watch


 

A few years ago, I reviewed an academic book about theatre. It was by a young writer called Barney Norris, and I thought that he showed great literary awareness, but that the book felt rather rushed.

It is now clear what Norris was rushing on to do. Although he is still only 31, he has established an impressive reputation as a playwright and has published a much-praised debut novel, Five Rivers Met on a Wooded Plain.
