Television travelogues are 10 a penny, but Ireland with Simon Reeve (22 and 29 November) promised something a little different. For one thing, it covered a land close to home but rarely explored. For another, it was fronted by Reeve, a young man better known for meeting difficult people in dangerous and exotic places.Nonetheless, a Reeve programme includes its whimsical elements, and Ireland has no shortage of those. In the first episode of two he met a storytelling champion who warned him about the fairies. “They’re just like us.
