Presented as a satire on the BBC, by the BBC, this returning sitcom is really a love letter to its old values in the face of an influx of jargon-spouting, trash-obsessed, self-congratulatory morons. Hugh Bonneville plays Ian Fletcher, Head of Values: everyone has a title here, and most of them sound real. Fletcher is a likeable, anxious, confused man struggling at the limits of his competence in a ludicrous job. He mostly goes to meetings. Here the Way Ahead Task Force tried to arrange a visit by Prince Charles and worried about the BBC’s “too white” Wimbledon coverage, while the Friday Damage Limitation Meeting considered a presenter referred to as Jeremy, who had used a faintly naughty word (an unfortunate example of satire being left behind by reality).Unluckily for h
